The Power of PVA: 2025 Annual Report

A narrative-driven annual report designed to strengthen donor trust and support long-term fundraising strategy. A strong annual report doesn’t just share results. It builds trust, reinforces credibility, and gives donors a reason to keep investing in the mission.

Overview

To showcase its national impact and prepare for its 80th anniversary, Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) required an annual report that would do more than summarize financials and milestones. The organization needed a compelling narrative that honored its legacy, demonstrated measurable impact, and inspired continued support. The report needed to serve not just as a reflection of the past year, but as a strategic tool to support fundraising, communications, and long-term brand positioning.

The Challenge

PVA sought an annual report that would:

· Communicate impact with clarity and emotional resonance

· Align diverse departmental contributions into a unified narrative

· Serve as a strategic fundraising and marketing tool

· Provide adaptable content for future campaigns and communications

· Lay the groundwork for messaging ahead of the organization’s 80th anniversary

Without a clear narrative, the report risked becoming a collection of disconnected updates rather than a cohesive story that donors could understand and respond to.

Strategy and Approach

I led the report from concept through completion, ensuring every element supported organizational goals and brand integrity.

· Narrative System: Unified messaging across all content.

· Content Architecture: Structured the report into clear, thematic sections that guided reader experience.

· Cross-Team Alignment: Created strategic prompts to help departments contribute relevant stories and data.

· Story Integration: Transformed qualitative and quantitative inputs into a cohesive, reader-friendly narrative.

· Editorial Leadership: Ensured clarity, consistency, and emotional impact across all sections.

· Repurposing Strategy: Designed content to extend beyond the report into social media, donor communications, and campaigns.

The Solution

The final product was a visually engaging, narrative-driven digital annual report that elevated PVA’s mission, strengthened donor confidence, and provided a strategic communications asset for ongoing use. By combining storytelling with data, the report transformed institutional achievements into meaningful human impact.

Results and Impact

· Delivered a cohesive, narrative-driven report that translated complex organizational impact into clear, human-centered storytelling

· Strengthened donor confidence by connecting data to real-world outcomes

· Created a scalable content system, allowing teams to repurpose stories across campaigns, social media, and development efforts

· Established a consistent storytelling framework to support future communications, including the organization’s 80th anniversary

· Recognized internally as a benchmark for future reports

My Role

· Content Architect and Editorial Lead

· Stakeholder Engagement and Interview Lead

· Multimedia Concept Developer

· Cross-Departmental Project Manager

This work reflects how I approach annual reports, not as standalone deliverables, but as strategic storytelling tools that support fundraising, strengthen brand clarity, and extend across an organization’s entire communications ecosystem.
